Following on from my first, second and third installment in this series on the marketing mix, I would like to introduce the third ‘P’ of the 4 P’s.

Promotion

Essentially if no one knows about a product it will never sell. Same with a blog (or website), if no one knows it exists, then no one will read it.

Firstly promotion is all about getting noticed, there are basically two ways to go about this-

  • Stand on a box, shout and scream.
  • Politely go round introducing yourself to everyone.

The 4 P’s of Marketing and your Blog, Price!

Following on from my first and second posts in this series on the marketing mix, I would like to introduce the Second ‘P’ of the 4 P’s.

Price

It is very unlikely you are charging for the privilege of reading your posts. Price is easily defined when we talk about real products, for that scenario, price influences peoples perception of the product. A high price can suggest quality, a low price may suggest it is an inferior product. Ultimately it is up to the consumer to decide whether the product is good value for money. This will influence repeat sales.

Ultimate Free Software for Students

Now I fully know students like me don’t want to pay for anything, if they can get away with it. As is said the best things in life are free.

This is true of software, but trying to find viable replacements to the expensive mainstream software such as Microsoft Office can be hard. But over the last few years there has been a small revolution. Initially free software was poor or well below standard. This is still true in some aspects, but there are some cracking freebies that nearly or more frequently than not, out perform there expensive competitors. I always use free software, here are my favourite free essentials:

Browser

Well, no competition here, it has to be Firefox, why? It is more reliable, less likely to let viruses through and in my opinion more aesthetically pleasing than Microsofts equivalent – Internet Explorer. Continue reading Ultimate Free Software for Students
